Merry Christmas!
…and a
Happy New Year!

Hi everyone!
Merry Christmas to all – I wanted to get this to you sooner but you know how
schedules are – but hey, I DID get it sent on Christmas day, yes?
We JUST got back from a ski trip to Angel Fire, NM
– rented an H3 hummer (what an adventure) and had a great time.
On our last day they had to close the lift due to blizzard conditions – but
the boys really had fun. Tyler and
I skied together and Drew took off with a buddy on their snow boards – wild stuff. Actually for the last five years I’ve
been exclusively on the “blades” (short, trick skis).
Lots of fun, but you have to stay away from deep fresh powder
or it’s like quick sand.
Updates:
Tyler is in his freshman year at the University of North Texas (Denton, Tx). He is studying RTV (Radio/Television). This is no fad for Tyler, he’s had a
lot of good experience now, starting with his career at Midlothian High School as
the TV anchor. Tyler has ALWAYS wanted
this pursuit. When he was just a kid
he could tell you every coach on any major sports team and most players.
He used to sit around as a make believe “color coordinator” during the games. His goal now though is to do the “play
by play”. Tyler is on a Denton radio
station every other day broadcasting the sports news (88.1).
They have even offered Tyler a job next year making decent money as the sports
manager. You can catch Tyler’s broadcast
every Tuesday and Thursday on the internet at 5:40 pm, check out:

Drew
is in his Senior year at Midlothian high school and is working at the local Brookshires
grocery store (just like his brother did last year, and just like his Dad worked
at Piggly Wiggly 31 years ago!) He’s
not sure where he’s headed, nothing is off the table.
He thinks he wants to be a TV actor, so we’ll see what develops.
He’s talking a wide range of college destinations so stay tuned!
He also is a Midlothian HS TV anchor, so the kids seem to really have this
in their blood. The other day a piece
Drew’s broadcast segment was broadcast on the Dallas Ft. Worth local TV news – and
since then all the girls seem to be chasing young Drew down in his new “fame” (oh
the agony). Someone send me a stick
pin!
Well, as you’ve heard I've gone
through some major changes this year but I’m doing just fine.
Thanks for all your prayers. And on the
"up-note", our bluegrass band has reformed and we are really having a
GREAT time. I’ve also tried my hand
writing a few songs, so here’s a “draft” of one we tried the other day:
Draft Gospel Song, "Give Yourself To Him"
Additionally I continue to work
as a consultant in Data Center projects – having to fly here and there.
Not too bad, maybe only 30% travel.
With Drew’s last year in Midlothian I really don’t want to be gone very long.
Well, that’s about it friends, I
pray God’s continued blessings on you and your family – above all to stay safe in
these “troubled times”. Let’s remember
how lucky we are to live in a free society and pray that this country continue to
provide reasoned leadership worldwide to keep democracy moving.
All the best in 2009!!!
